Oh Marty, how awful. What a sad situation for all concerned.

That is so sad for both you and the kid. I guess you just have to cling to the knowledge that you helped as many as you could and you did your best even for the lost sheep.

It is hard though for someone who wanted to make a difference to have to lose even one. (My father has shared stories of former students on death row.)

I don't know what else to say... I'm so sorry for you both.

All too often, one might see this on the news and say something like - "That's just one bad seed." But you just showed us that there is a whole story behind a child who was dealt a crappy hand in life. He's not just another mug shot.

This is why I will keep fighting for Chuck to stay a teacher. Every time he says 'you can,' it may make the difference.
